Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • ½ cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add cubed potatoes. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until tender.
  3. Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add chopped onion, carrots, and minced garlic; sauté for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper, then add frozen peas.
  5. Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Add remaining butter and milk, seasoning with salt and pepper. Mash until smooth.
  6. In a baking dish, spread the meat mixture, then top with mashed potatoes. Create texture on top with a fork.
  7. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown. Let cool before serving.
