  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract, mixing until fully integrated.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Use a cookie scoop to portion the dough and roll each piece into a ball, then roll in powdered sugar.
  7. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the edges are set and centers are slightly soft.
