Delightful homemade biscuits with a flaky, buttery texture, perfect for breakfast or as a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed and very cold
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons cold buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • Optional Topping: 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Optional Topping: 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C).
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the cold buttermilk and honey, gently folding until just combined.
  5. Shape the dough on a floured surface to about 1-inch thickness.
  6. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out circles and place them on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

Ensure your butter is very cold for the best texture. Do not over-mix the dough.
