A delicious and simple recipe for Korean BBQ steak rice bowls, featuring marinated beef, fluffy rice, and vibrant vegetables.

  • 1 lb flank steak
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 4 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup carrot, julienned
  • 1 cup cucumber, thinly sliced
  • Optional toppings: sesame seeds, green onions, kimchi

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined.
  2. Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish, and pour the marinade over it. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Prepare the rice according to package instructions.
  4. Heat a skillet or grill pan over high heat and sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side.
  5. Add the leftover marinade to the pan with broccoli and carrots, and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Remove the steak from heat, let it rest for a few minutes, and slice it against the grain.
  7. In each serving bowl, place rice topped with sautéed vegetables and sliced steak, garnishing with cucumber slices and optional toppings.
