A delightful and comforting dessert combining sweet and tart apples with a buttery crumble, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium apples (about 3 cups, peeled, cored, and chopped)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the apples: Peel, core, and chop the apples into bite-sized pieces. Toss them with a sprinkle of cinnamon and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining cinnamon. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the apple mixture.
  7. In a small bowl, combine flour, oats, and remaining butter to form a crumbly mixture for the topping.
  8. Pour the apple batter into a greased baking pan and sprinkle the crumble evenly on top.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.

Notes
