  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 puff pastry sheets, slightly thawed
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1/2 cup jam, jelly, or chocolate chips
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Gradually mix in the egg yolk, lemon juice, and vanilla until fully combined.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets.
  5. Cut them into 4×4 inch squares and prick the centers lightly with a fork.
  6. Whisk together the egg white and water in a small bowl.
  7. Brush this mixture over the edges of each pastry square.
  8. Spoon the cream cheese filling onto the center of each square.
  9. Bake the pastries for 15 to 18 minutes until golden brown and puffy.
  10. While baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk for the glaze.
  11. Once baked, allow the Danishes to cool slightly before drizzling the glaze over them.
  12. Serve warm and enjoy!
