Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 and 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: chocolate buttercream for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and spray a 9-inch pie dish or cake pan with nonstick spray.
  2. Beat together the softened butter and packed brown sugar until creamy.
  3. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips, saving a few to sprinkle on top.
  7. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 22 to 26 minutes until golden brown. Allow it to cool completely before slicing.
  9. Optionally, frost with chocolate buttercream before serving.
