A comforting and vibrant dish featuring tender beef and crisp broccoli in a savory soy sauce, perfect for quick weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound sliced flank steak
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Wash and chop the broccoli into bite-sized florets and slice the flank steak thinly against the grain.
  2. Make the marinade: In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, cornstarch, and water. Set aside.
  3. Cook the beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Stir-fry the broccoli: In the same pan, add another teaspoon of sesame oil and the broccoli florets, stir-frying for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  5. Combine everything: Return the beef to the skillet, pour over the marinade, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
  6. Serve promptly: Serve hot over bowls of steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

Avoid overcooking the broccoli; it should be tender yet crisp. This dish is adaptable; feel free to substitute beef with chicken, tofu, or shrimp.
