Delightful rolled sugar cookies that are perfect for decorating and any festive occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C).
  2. Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Dust your work surface with flour, roll out the chilled dough to about ¼ inch thickness, then use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
  7. Place the cut cookies on a lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, until lightly golden around the edges.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
