  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup jelly or jam (your choice)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla and optional almond extract, mixing until combined.
  4. Gradually incorporate the flour and salt until just combined.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough, form into balls, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Use your thumb to make an indentation in the center of each ball.
  7. Fill each indentation with about 1 teaspoon of jelly.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are golden and centers soft.
