A crunchy, sweet, and salty snack coated in caramelized toffee that hardens into a crisp shell.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups mini pretzel twists or sticks
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Optional toppings: Sea salt flakes
  • Optional toppings: Chopped pecans or almonds
  • Optional toppings: Melted chocolate for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously.
  3. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir until combined and bubbling for about 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract and baking soda, and let it foam.
  5. Pour the hot toffee mixture over the pretzels in a large bowl and stir to coat evenly.
  6. Spread coated pretzels on the baking sheet in a single layer.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
  8. Let pretzels cool completely and drizzle with melted chocolate or sprinkle with optional toppings.

Notes

Store cooled pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days. For longer storage, freeze in a sealed bag for up to 3 months.
