Delightful sugar cookies with a buttery texture, perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp almond extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until fully combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture into the creamed butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Once chilled, roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick and use cookie cutters to create shapes.
  8. Place them on lined baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.

Notes

Chill the dough to maintain shape and use parchment paper to prevent sticking.
