A warm and comforting casserole combining seasoned beef, crispy potatoes, and gooey cheese, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with chopped onions for 7-10 minutes; season with salt and pepper.
  3. Drain excess fat and layer half of the sliced potatoes in a baking dish.
  4. Spread half of the beef mixture and half of the cream of mushroom soup over the potatoes.
  5. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients, seasoning between layers.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  7. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be customized with different meats or vegetables, and it freezes well for later use.
