  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
  5. Gently fold in chopped pecans and chocolate chips.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Layer with caramel sauce and drizzle more on top before serving.
