Delightful blondies featuring the rich, nutty flavor of browned butter, perfect for satisfying sweet cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Optional mix-ins: semi-sweet chocolate chips, nuts, or butterscotch chips

Instructions

  1. Brown the Butter: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir occasionally until it begins to foam and darken to a golden brown, being careful not to burn it.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: Remove the browned butter from heat and let it cool slightly. In a mixing bowl, combine the warm butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar. Whisk until combined.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Introduce the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Incorporate Mix-Ins: Fold in any optional mix-ins as desired.
  6. Prepare for Baking: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  7. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs. Let cool before cutting into squares.
